    Backed up by the most Influential Businessman named “Ratan Tata“, Tata Motors is one of the biggest market players in Asia. It has come a long way from being on the verge of getting sold to Ford Motor Company to acquire Land Rover and Jaguar from them. Since the merger of Land Rover and Jaguar with Tata group, Tata motors has improved a lot with their new vehicle designs and safety standards.

    From TELCO to TATA

    Previously known as Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company (TELCO), now Tata motors manufacture a large variety of vehicles ranging from Cars to Trucks and Buses. Apart from Jaguar and Land Rover, Tata motors have also acquired Daewoo(a commercial Vehicle Manufacturer of South Korea).

    Tata firstly started making commercial vehicles in 1954 in collaboration with the Daimler-Benz company and worked with them till 1969. But in 1988, the company debuted into the Passenger Vehicle Segment By launching Tata Mobile and then Tata Sierra in 1991. At that time, Tata became the first Indian vehicle manufacturer to attain the potential of producing a competitive indigenous automobile. Later on, In 1998, Tata launched the first fully indigenous Indian passenger car named Indica, which was a huge hit at that time.

    Debute in Electric Vehicle market

    Apart from these, Tata motors have also delivered Sumo and Safari which are some of the most selling vehicles in the market till now. Tata has debuted the Electric Vehicle market with their first production EV named Nexon which is also available in Petrol and Diesel variants.

    Packed with a 30.2 kWh battery pack, Tata Nexon EV delivers 312 Km range on a full charge. Before launching the Nexon in the Indian market, in 2018 Tata had also presented a Concept of an Electric Vehicle named E-vision. Apart from these, Tata has previously unveiled their H5X SUV and 45X hatchback concept at Auto Expo 2018 which are expected to be launched in the upcoming years.

    Tata Nexon EV, Tata Tigor EV and Tata Evision

    Tata Evision is a Saloon that is going to be one of the Flagship vehicles of Tata motors. Tata’s journey of making EV traces back to the Platform named Tata X1 on which Tata Manza, Bolt, and Zest were made. Apart from this, Tata has developed AMP(Advanced Modular Platform) and ALFA(Agile Light Flexible Advance). The second-generation Nexon EV and Tata Tigor EV are based on the AMP platform, while the next-generation model of Nexon EV was also built on the ALFA platform, contributing to the completion of 1000 Nexon EVs in India.

    There has been a fuss about Tata’s new platform being developed which will only be dedicated to Electrical Vehicles. The new platform is expected to have more space and better Aerodynamic bonnets. To make Electric Vehicles Affordable, Tata Motors is also going to work with its sister companies named Tata Chemicals, Tata Power, and Tata AutoComp to find alternatives for producing cheaper batteries and create an Affordable Charging ecosystem. The company has launched some of the most selling vehicles named Harrier, Gravitas, and Safari, etc. which the company is expecting to launch in Electric variants based on Shared platforms.

    4-star ratings in the Global NCAP test

    Modular Platforms and Merger with famous British Brands is not the only thing that makes Tata’s vehicle superior, but also their emphasis on the safety standards makes them stand out. Most of Tata’s newly launched vehicles have secured more than 4-star ratings in the Global NCAP test.

    Having their Manufacturing and Assembly plants in Great Britain, Argentina, South Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, etc. the company is targetting globally to increase its market shares. It has also bagged orders to hundreds of EVs from EV operating companies worldwide. Apart from these, the company has also made tie-ups with some of the World’s best institutes to research and enhance the design and performance of their products.
