GMC

GMC, formerly known as General Motors Truck Company, is a part of an American Automobile conglomerate named General Motors. Apart from GMC, General Motors have Buick, Cadillac, GMSV, and Chevrolet as its subsidiaries.

It was founded in 1911 and it emerged as one of the biggest truck manufacturing companies of the century. In 1996, the merger of GMC Truck Division and Pontiac Motor Division took place which allowed a single dealer to offer both trucks and entry-to-mid-level cars.

History of 119 Years

The company completed its 100 years in 2002 because the root of the company traces back to the year 1902. The company generally develops utility vehicles such as Trucks, SUVs, Vans, etc. But the company has also been seen making Military Vehicles, Ambulances, Military Vehicles, Fire and Heavy-Duty Trucks, etc.

That’s not the end, but also the company has stepped into the Luxury Vehicles Market (Denali Series). It currently stepped into the Electric Vehicle Market to match with the ongoing trend.

The company is Headquartered in Michigan, United States, and currently serves the major parts of the world. Since Chevrolet is a subsidiary of GMC, so the GMC motors can be seen sharing the platform developed by Chevrolet in vehicles such as GMC Sierra, GMC Sierra Cab, etc.

Hummer

Apart from the Luxury and SUV range vehicles offered by the GMC under different names, a very famous sub-brand named Hummer debuted into the Automotive market in 1992 with a civilian version of the M998 Humvee (a Military Vehicle). Hummer was a subsidiary of AM General, but later in 1998, the name was purchased by General Motors. Hummer has delivered the largest selling vehicle models, such as H1, H2, and H3. But due to the Bankruptcy, they shut the company down in the year 2010.

A Restart or EV-Start in 2020

The company restarted its operations in 2020 and revealed the two Electric vehicles named GMC Hummer EV (SUV and Truck). The pre-production model of the Hummer EV has been showcased in the showroom. The company has also launched a trailer that reflects the features of the SUV and Truck.

The company has not started the production of the GMC Hummer EV, but it is expected to start in late 2021. Tough Body, Large Battery Pack, Crabwalk, Extract Mode, Great Acceleration, etc. is what makes this vehicle stand out in the category of Electric SUVs.

The SUV and Truck are going to share almost the same features with slight differences in dimensions and Features. By maintaining the legacy, the company has made a great comeback with a great SUV and Truck, so we expected a lot of tougher and better vehicles from the GMC in the future.
