Upcoming EVs in the Next 3 Years
There is a fuss in the market about the launch of electric vehicles in the US from different manufacturers. Data from sources suggested some of the vehicles that are expected in the upcoming years are as following:
1. Tesla Roadster(Second Generation)
Announced in November 2017, Glass Roofed Roadster to be the fastest Street Legal Production Car by Tesla is set to go on production by 2022. Tesla claims the Roadster to have an acceleration of 0 to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds and 0 to 100mph in 4.2 seconds.
Four seaters (2+2) Tesla Roadster will be having All Wheel Drive(AWD) with 1 motor at the front and 2 motors at the rear. These motors will deliver a torque up to 10,000-Nm to the wheels and can go to a top speed of over 250 mph.
It is expected to cover up to 620 miles on a single charge, which will make it the Highest Range Luxury Electric vehicle. The First 1000 vehicles lot called “Founders Series Reservation” is available for $250,000 while the base price of the car is $200,000.

2. Porsche Macan EV
After Taycan, the Porsche Macan Electric SUV is going to be the second Electric Vehicle in Porsche’s EV line. The new Macan Electric SUV is going to be the first car from the Volkswagen group which will be based on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform jointly designed with Audi.
Releasing in 2022, the new Macan EV will have a power capacity of 350kW which can handle up to 800V of input power, which is the same as that of Taycan. Porsche is expected to launch the vehicle in short-range and Long-range battery packs and also there will be an option to choose from Rear-wheel drive or Four Wheel drive.
The new PPE platform offers features like full-body scalability of the car, torque control via Torque vectoring which offer great torque to the wheels.
3. Tesla Cybertruck
One of the most unique Upcoming EVs, Coming in Three Different models, Tesla’s 6 seaters Cyber Truck is an electric utility vehicle that will offer an estimated range of 250–500 miles on a single charge. Depending on the model, the Cybertruck will offer acceleration of 0-60 mph in 2.9 -6.5 seconds.
Cybertruck will have a race car steering yoke with a marble look dashboard. With a 2m long Bed, the truck will have a 100 cubic feet space offering a total towing capacity of 7,500+ lbs. Keeping the tough working conditions in mind, the truck will have ground clearance of 16″ with an approach angle of 35 degrees and a departure angle of 28 degrees to offer a better and safer ride.
Set to start production in 2021, the Cyber truck will cost between $39,900 to $69,900 with an extra cost of $10,000 for installing the full self-driving feature.

4. Lotus Evija
Announced in July 2019, the British Automobile Manufacturer Lotus is set to launch its first electric vehicle called Evija in mid-2021. Packed with a 70 kWh battery pack, Evija will offer an electric range of 400 km on a single charge. Packed with four individual motors making a total power of 368 kW, the new Lotus Evija will offer a torque of 1799 Nm.
It will attain acceleration of 0 to 62 mph in under 3 seconds, and from 0 to 186 mph in under 9 seconds. Delivering a power output of 1,970 HP, the two-door electric sports car will offer a maximum speed of 200 mph. The company will produce only 130 units under the codename “Type 130”.
5. BMW i4
Based on the CLAR(Cluster Architecture) platform, the BMW i4 is the 4 doors luxury electric sedan of the I series. Coming with a range of 60-80 kWh Lithium-ion batteries, it will offer a range of up to 373 miles on a single charge.
The High range battery will support CCS Combo 2 DC fast-charging up to 150 kW, due to which 80% of the battery can be charged in 35 minutes while the 6 minutes of charge will offer a range up to 62 miles. There will be 3 variants available that will house Synchronous motors ranging from 268 hp to 523 hp.
There will be a total of 17 cu ft space on offer in the rear trunk and it is expected to go on production in late 2021. Regarding the Environmental Concerns, the Company has aimed to reduce the use of earth metals in the manufacturing of this Electric Vehicle to a lower value.
6. Cadillac Lyriq : Upcoming EVs
General Motor has already launched its first Electric vehicle named Bolt under the brand Chevrolet, while it is set to launch its second Electric Vehicle under the luxury car manufacturer named Cadillac in 2022.
Specifications of this car have not been revealed yet, but it is rumoured to have GM’s supercruise technology which will make the vehicle fully automatic. The new 5 doors Cadillac Lyriq will be based on the GM’s new lithium-electric architecture, called Ultium.
Cadillac Lyriq has derived its name from the popularity of the Brand name repeated in different Song lyrics while it is named Lyriq because the company had to carry the legacy of naming their vehicles with names that end with the letter Q.

7. Audi Q4 E-Tron
The new concept Audi Q4 E-Tron SUV driven by 225 kW motors is expected to launch in 2021. The new Audi Q4 E-Tron will be having a battery capacity of 82 kWh which will deliver a range of up to 279 miles on a single charge.
It will have an acceleration time of 6.3 seconds to reach a speed of 62 mph from zero. It will be based on a Modular Electric Platform(MEP) and the torque delivered by the Quattro(Name of Four Wheel drive Technology from Audi) motors will be electrically controlled to deliver optimum output in all conditions.
8. Faraday Future FF91
California Based startup(founded in 2014) Faraday Future is expected to launch its First flagship vehicle named FF91 in 2023. The car will be having 3 motors which will sum up to deliver 1050 Horsepower. The car will be having an acceleration of 0-60 mph in 2.39 seconds while it will deliver 300+ miles of run on a single charge.
Faraday Future has come up with Advance AI technology that will enhance the user experience and also it will deliver a premium and effortless experience to the customer.
9. Audi E-Tron GT
Showcased in 2018, the concept of the Audi E-Tron will soon convert into a car. The Audi E-Tron GT fitted with synchronous motors will be having a 590 hp system output. It will accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds and up to 124.3 mph in 12 seconds.
On a single charge, it can deliver a range of 248.5 miles with a top speed of 149.1 mph. The 4.96 m long vehicle will be having a 90 kWh battery pack installed in it to supply power to the powerful synchronous motors. It is closely designed with the Porche to deliver optimum performance.
