Seeing the increasing trend of Electric Vehicles in the Indian market, an Indian App-based cab service provider named Ola has also recently launched their new funky-looking electric scooter.

Named as Ola S1, the scooter will be available in two variants named Ola S1 and S1 Pro. The design of the scooter is inspired by the design of the Dutch-based scooter company named Etergo which OLA acquired in 2020. This is expected to be the best E-Scooter in the Indian market until now.

Not just the design, but also the specifications of the scooters makes it one of the best e-scooters of the Indian market that can compete with the segment player named Ather. So let’s look briefly at the specifications of the scooter:

Form Factor

S1 has got a kerb weight of 121 kg while the S1 Pro has 125 kg. The front has got a Single Telescopic Fork suspension while the rear has got Monoshock suspension. Talking about the brakes, the front has got a 120 mm disc, and the rear is equipped with a 180 mm disc. The tyres size offered on the Scooter is 110/70- R12.

The new Ola S1 and S1 pro e-scooters derive their designs from the Amsterdam-based App scooter company named Etergo. Apart from its design inspired by Etergo, the new Ola S1 has got further mechanical changes to suit the needs of the customers. Talking about the Aesthetics, the scooter will be available in 10 different color options to choose from.

Performance

Performance specifications of the scooter are what make it stand out from the rest of the vehicles available in the segment. The newly designed motor by Ola makes both the S1 and S1 pro variants to deliver a continuous power output of 5.5 kW and a peak output of 8.5 kW. The torque offered on both of the vehicles is also the same as 58 kW.

The difference in both the variants lies in the case of acceleration where S1 hit a speed of 0-40 kph in just 3.6 seconds, while the pro variant reaches the same in 3 seconds. Also, the time taken by S1 to reach a speed of 60 kph is 7 seconds, while the pro variant will take 5 seconds for the same.

Apart from this, the top speed of the vehicles is also the distinguishing factor as the S1 offers the rider a top speed of 90 kph, while the Pro variant offers a speed of 115 kph. Also, these figures are the highest among any other petrol or diesel Indian-made scooter.

To extract performance from the scooter, the S1 has got a Normal and a Sports mode while the Pro variant has got a Normal, Sports, and a Hyper mode to extract its peak performance.

Battery

Talking about the battery specifications of the Scooters, the S1 variant has got a 2.98 kWh battery pack which offers a range of 121 km while the Ola S1 pro offers a range of 3.98 kWh which offers a range of 181 kM.

With the standard home charger, the S1 variant, having the smaller battery pack, takes less time to charge, which sums up to 4 hr 48 minutes while the Pro variant can be fully charged in a total of 6 hr and 30 minutes.

The fast-charging offered by the company’s fast charger can charge the vehicle in 18 minutes to offer a range of 75 km for both variants.

Apart from its high speed, acceleration, and range, the e-scooter has also got some interesting features that make it the best buy option. Some of the highlighted features of this E-scooter are Proximity Lock/Unlock, Remote Boot Lock/Unlock, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Connectivity, side stand alert, Infotainment system which allows you to play any track via its inbuilt speakers.

It also offers an in-display navigation system that will offer you information about traffic in real-time. Also, the scooter can be controlled with the voice of the user. Different driver profiles can also be made in the scooter for different settings.

Charging Infrastructure

Till now the company has not got any fast-charging infrastructure but the company aims to set up 1 lakh fast chargers across 400 cities in India as a part of the Hypercharging network. This charging infrastructure is going to be implemented in phases where the company is aiming to install 5000 fast chargers in the 100 cities of India.

Ola S1 and S1 Pro Price

The S1 variant is going to cost 99,999 INR while the Pro variant will cost around 1,29,999 INR. The company is planning to offer the vehicle directly to the customers instead of following the conventional dealer network. The deliveries of the vehicles are going to start from September.
