According to an agreement between Electrify America and Mercedes-Benz USA, all electric Mercedes EQS drivers will get free charging on the Electrify America network for two years.
Electrify America currently has over 600 public stations nationwide and by the end of this year the company wants 800 locations with 3,500 chargers, either open or under development. It means that Electrify America Charging station will be always in reach of EQS owners.
While you might think that those who spend more than $100,000 for Mercedes’ flagship electric vehicle wouldn’t mind what they spent refilling it, that might not always be the case. Even some of the richest people are extremely frugal for basic everyday expenses.
Even if customers only use free charging when they drive on long trips, it’s a nice benefit to know you’re not being billed for energy.
Dimitris Psillakis, President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA said that “Coming out in U.S. dealerships this fall, the EQS is a revolutionary, all-electric luxury sedan that combines Mercedes-Benz’s industry-leading standards with Mercedes-EQ’s purpose-built electric powertrain and groundbreaking technologies.”
He further added“EQS marks a new era for our brand, and this collaboration with Electrify America will ensure a seamless ownership experience for our customers with convenient access to an extensive coast-to-coast charging network while Supporting a solid foundation for upcoming all-electric model.”
Additionally, it also reveals that the EQS will feature plug and charge technology, so owners will not need to use the app to start a charging session. They can simply pull up, plug in and the car will communicate with the charging station to verify and initiate a charging session.
As of today, only the Porsche Taycan and Ford Mustang Mach-E are the only EVs that are using Plug and Charge feature, but more vehicles will soon join the game. Electrify America is currently the only EV charging network that is providing Plug & Charge for its retail customers.
