SAIC

SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, also known as Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, is a Chinese multinational automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Shanghai, China. The company was founded in 1958 as the Shanghai Automotive Works. SAIC Motor is the largest automobile manufacturer in China and the 7th-largest in the world.

Journey

In the 1980s, SAIC Motor began to cooperate with foreign automakers, including Volkswagen and General Motors. This cooperation helped SAIC Motor to develop its technology and production capabilities. In the 1990s, SAIC Motor began to export its cars to other countries.

In the 2000s, SAIC Motor continued to grow and expand its operations. The company acquired a number of other automakers, including Nanjing Automobile and Changfeng Motor. SAIC Motor also began to develop its own electric vehicles.

Today, SAIC Motor is a major player in the global automotive industry. The company offers a wide range of vehicles, including cars, SUVs, trucks, and buses. SAIC Motor is also a leader in the development of electric vehicles.

Entry into the EV market

SAIC Motor entered the EV market in 2010 with the launch of the Roewe E50. The E50 was a small electric car that was not very successful. In 2015, SAIC Motor launched the Roewe E60, a larger electric car that was more successful. In 2018, SAIC Motor launched the MG ZS EV, an electric SUV that has been very successful.

SAIC Motor is committed to becoming a leader in the EV market. The company has set a goal of selling 1 million electric vehicles by 2025. SAIC Motor is investing heavily in the development of new EV technologies, such as solid-state batteries and long-range charging infrastructure.
