Kia

Headquartered in Seoul, the South Korea-based automotive brand Kia is a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company which deals in almost every segment of the Automotive sector.

Founded in 1944 as Kyungsung Precision Industry, the company used to manufacture Bicycle Parts and also came out to be the first domestic bicycle manufacturer in Korea.

From Kyungsung Precision to Kia

In 1952, the name was changed to Kia industries, which after a few years started manufacturing licensed vehicles (Motorcycles, Trucks, Cars, etc.) of different brands such as Fiat, Honda, Mazda, etc. In 1997, after declaring bankruptcy, the brand was acquired by Hyundai motors with a 51% share.

Kia is present in different countries under different affiliates and subsidiaries of the brand manufacturing both ICE vehicles and Electric vehicles.

Kia’s First EV- Ray EV

Kia entered the Electric Vehicle market by launching their first EV named Ray EV in 2011 and then added Soul EV to the list in 2014. Since then, the company has been engaged in manufacturing top-end Electric and Hybrid Vehicles to tackle pollution.

Apart from this Kia is also involved in the R&D to develop fuel cell electric vehicles in the future. Kia is also very much active in sponsoring various Sports, Music, Entertainment, and Charity events.
