Mazda today announced its new technology and product development policy toward 2030, which builds on the company’s long-term vision for technology development, “Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030.”
They divided this plan into two phases. The company will electrify 13 xEVs in between 2022-2025 and then they have bigger plan in the second phase that will start from 2025.

Phase I (2022-2025)
The Japanese manufacturer plans to speed up the electrification of its lineup between 2022 and 2025 by introducing 13 new xEVs – this plan includes five hybrid, five plug-in hybrid and three all-electric models.
All these upcoming EVs from Mazda will be based on Mazda’s “SkyActive Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture”. These EVs are primarily imagined for Japan, Europe, the US, China and ASEAN.
The last image on this post shows a gasoline plug-in hybrid, while the just above, we can see the gasoline and diesel 48V mild hybrid. The electrical solution, that features an optional small rotary engine as a generator, is presented in very low resolution below.
Phase II (2025-2030)
Phase II will be the launch of an all-new “SKYACTIV Scalable EV Architecture” – a new platform dedicated to battery electric vehicles – between 2025 and 2030.
This new platform will be used in “several” new all-electric models, As per statement “In addition, we will introduce “SkyActive EV Scalable Architecture,” Mazda’s unique EV platform for electric vehicles with various vehicle sizes and body types in 2025.”
At this point, we don’t know if Mazda’s EV solution will be related in any way to Toyota’s EV technology or if it will be truly unique.
Electrification goals
The company believes that 100% of its fleet will have some level of electrification by 2030. This means that they will at least be hybrids while some will be stand-alone BEVs.

Mazda’s EV ratio of total sales volume is expected to reach 25% by 2030. We estimate that the majority of Mazda’s sales will be the xEV, containing plug-in hybrids and hybrids.
